Komla Dumor's 1st Anniversary

The family of the late Komla Dumor has announced plans to mark the first anniversary of the icon’s demise beginning Friday January 16, 2015.

Born in Ghana in 1972, Dumor had an extraordinary impact, epitomizing a new Africa, one of success and hope. Through his compelling story telling he worked tirelessly to bring this narrative to the world.

A spokesperson for the Komla Dumor Foundation told Adom News a special Memorial Service for the Icon of African Broadcast Journalism, will be held at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka on Saturday 17 January.

It will be preceded by a forum of his professional friends on Friday January 16 at the International Press Centre.

A thanksgiving service will be held on Sunday, at which the Komla Dumor Foundation will be formally launched. Information about the foundation can be found at www.komladumorfoundation.org

He passed away on 18 January 2014 in his London home after a cardiac arrest, having been on air the day before. President John Mahama said in a message on Twitter that Dumor was one of Ghana's "finest ambassadors" and "was a broadcaster of exceptional quality and Ghana's gift to the world.”

On 3 February 2014 Komla Dumor's body was flown back to Ghana for burial.
